About Me
Natalie is a multi-national theatre props artist who works in both Canada and the United States. She currently lives in London, Ontario where she is the Head of Props for the Grand Theatre. Prior to that, she was on staff at Trinity Repertory Company in Rhode Island as Properties Artisan and she also served as the Props Master for the Brown/Trinity MFA Program.
She's created props for theaters across New England, including Speakeasy Stage, Brown/Trinity Summer Playwrights, Brown University Undergraduate Theatre, Emerson Stage, the Nora Theater, New England Conservatory, Opera Boston, Shakespeare & Co, and Lyric Stage. Beyond the east coast, she's had work featured at Central City Opera in Colorado and the Beijing Music Festival in Beijing China.
She was a Professional Intern for the 2008-2009 season at the Huntington Theatre Company and completed a work placement in the Properties Shop at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-Upon-Avon where she built props for the 2008 production of "Love's Labours Lost" starring David Tennant. Natalie is a 2008 graduate of Emerson College, BFA Design/Tech, Magna Cum Laude.
Natalie’s design and craft philosophy stems from a deep belief in collaboration and integrity to an overall design. She works with a scenic designer to create a team atmosphere where shared ideas and visions are translated into fully realized environments. With background training in scenic design, she is committed to bringing a set to life through props and set dressings. A dedicated craftsperson, Natalie also enjoys bringing her skills to a show by creating one-of-a-kind items catered specifically to the design and vision of the artists and director working on a piece. Her specialties are paper props and assemblage (found-object art).
Natalie is a member of SPAM (The Society of Properties Artisan Managers), a presenter and adjudicator at the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival, a member of IATSE Local 828, and in her spare time is a ceramics hand-builder and an avid pub trivia player.
