Rats with Blood Packs - 'Social Creatures' at Trinity Rep, 2013

In a post-apocalyptic world, eight survivors set up camp in the theatre to hide out from the evil outside (zombies?!). But where there's a stockpile of food, there's rats. The actors had to bludgeon two rat carcasses on stage. These rats are simple fur pouches lined with plastic and engineered to have a small opening on the bottom where they velcro shut and a small hole in the top. The plastic interior forces the blood outwards rather than soaking into the fabric. The rat is stuffed with 2 packs of batting to fill it out and a blood pack in the center. They have medical tubing tales that give great movement as the rats are beaten to a bloody mess.
