The Threepenny Opera, Brown/Trinity MFA Program 2011
For this production of Brecht/Weill's 'The Threepenny Opera', the director, Kristan Seemel, decided to go with the stage directions for the production instructing on the use of signs for scenes and songs. I designed and produced a over twenty signs for this production, taking my inspiration from letterpress, protest signs, and vintage broadsides. In addition to the signs, I found a bearskin rug for the show and created faux food, a 4' long scroll of MacHeath's crimes, and a dummy body for the finale (in which we hung Mac the Knife, even after the famous 'Deus Ex Machina' reprieve).
